Safe Food Storage

Achieving safe food storage and knowing that your food supply is safe to eat is not difficult. You don't want your food to make you sick. So, you take a few basic precautions and you can eat in peace.

The first place you want to secure your food supply is in the refrigerator. A clean, well maintained refrigerator will last for 10 to 20 years without problems. Your refrigerator should always keep foods cold at a steady temperature between 34 degrees Fahrenheit to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are a person that's Celcius about 1.1 degree Celsius to about 4.5 degrees Celsius. You should use a refrigerator thermometer and check the temperature in the bottom and the top of your refrigerator. There will be slight variation between the vegetable crisper area (the bottom), the doorstorage area, and the top.

Your freezer should keep foods frozen at approximately 0 degrees Fahrenheit ( -18 degrees Celsius) to 5 degrees Fahrenheit ( -15 degrees Celsius). Be sure to only keep foods frozen for as long as recommended and use them before that. While frozen foods rarely spoil they do degrade and get "freezer burn". foods dry out, Parrot and will sometimes get an odd taste if kept in the freezer too long. This can also be a sign that the foods are improperly wrapped before being frozen.

Don't keep foods right up until the maximum time before expiration if you want the best safe food storage. Try to use them before that date. Be sure to check foods for discoloration, mold and excessive moisture before eating them.

When you cook foods be sure to cook meat tothe recommended temperatures. Undercooked meat is a common source of food borne illness. Burger should always be cooked medium to well done. If you use a meat thermometer that's 155 degrees Fahrenheit or about 68 degrees Celsius. Chicken or poultry should always be cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 75 degrees Celsius. Pork should be cooked at 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 60 degrees Celsius. A good meat cooking chart can be found at http://www.cooksrecipes.com/tips/meat-cooking-temperature-chart.html.

Store dry goods and other canned foods in airtight containers in a dark, dry, secure area free of rodent and insect access. Be sure to check canned goods for dents, rust, leakage and other signs that the contents may be contaminated or spoiled. If in doubt, throw it out. Keep an eyeon expiration dates and be sure to use canned goods and other foods before they expire.

When eating home canned goods be sure that they are clearly labeled and dated for when they were canned. Check with your local agriculture extension for how long home canned goods are generally safe. The national center for home food preservation recommends that you consume home canned goods within a year.

Be sure to prepare your foods in a clean kitchen and wash your hands before and after handling food. For more tips on safe food storage you can surf the Internet and find lots of good advice from the USDA and the local agriculture extension offices of the USDA.

How to Buy Custom Kitchen Islands Without Breaking the Bank

The right island will make any kitchen both functional and beautiful. They can form the center of a kitchen design. The challenge is to learn where you can find custom kitchen islands to meet your needs at an affordable price. The answer is to work with the right cabinetmaker.

Many cabinet makers charge a small fortune to build an island that meets your needs. Most pre-pre-designed and fabricated kitchen island designs will not provide the combination of features and dimensions you want. Your options are to use something you do not want or to pay for the custom island.

There is a very good option. By working with a cabinetmaker that has a relationship allowing him or her to buy cabinets directly from a manufacturer, it is possible to customize affordable standard-sizecabinets into the island you want for your kitchen. Even the kitchen island cabinet offered by the manufacturer can be customized for your needs.

Kitchen cabinet islands actually offer the greatest flexibility in island design and construction. Your island can hold a cook top, work surface or a sink. It can combine an informal dining space with a cooking area or a clean-up area.

Your island can even be a self-contained food preparation area. You can include an under counter refrigerator-freezer or refrigerated drawers, food, storage, storage for pots and pans, food preparation sink, an oven, a microwave or a quick-access beverage and snack area. You can use anything from butcher block or a cook top to stainless steel for the surface.

You can also combine two or moresurface heights in your custom island. In a large island, it is possible to combine a food preparation area, a quick snack and beverage-access area, and a casual dining area, each at a different level above the floor.

If you are designing a highly functional gourmet cook's kitchen, you might be planning several distinct work areas in your kitchen. Your island can form the third point of multiple work triangles and connect the parts of the kitchen, or it can separate the areas of the kitchen. For example, an island with a gas range can connect to baking area clean-up area and a food-preparation area for salad making, etc.

Alternatively, you can position your island to create a barrier between the dining and entertaining area of your kitchen and the work area. Refrigerateddrawers can be used to make snacks and appetizers available, as well as cold drinks. Your island could also include an under counter wine cooler or refrigerator. By including a microwave and a small freezer, you can make snacks available to your children in an area that keeps them away from the dangers of the stove.

Custom kitchen islands have become an important element in kitchen design. They can serve a range of functions in your new or remodeled, upgraded kitchen. Working with a good cabinetmaker to customize affordable kitchen cabinets can create exactly what you want in your finished kitchen at a price that will not break the budget.

Starbucks Merges With Blockbuster for Movie Cafes

I have been sitting on my hands and holding back my ideas because I thought someone from the new Blockbuster Corporation would have done something of value by now, but they haven't.

A few news items were the driving force that tipped off my thinking cap. The first piece of news was a rumor that Charlie Ergen, the new owner of Blockbuster and founder of Dish Networks, only bought for the Blockbuster monster Tax Credits that the u.s. Government gives corporations when their company loses profits.

The other action in the news was Blockbuster's move to engage a courtroom battle with NCR over vending machine sales. (NCR is a company that licenses the Blockbuster name for movie rental machines in grocery stores.) Rather than a smart business action, that was both the strawthat broke the camel's back and my cue to hatch this business plan for Blockbuster or anyone else who can get a hold of one of their retail outlets abandoned recently. Luckily for Mr. Ergen, high profile corporate lawyers are cheap so they can do this legal fighting for decades over vending machine sales and get massive corporate tax cuts.

My answer to Blockbusters problems does not reside in the courtrooms but stems from BEANS-COFFEE BEANS, to be exact.

Blockbuster Video Stores have been woven into the fabric of American for a while, but now they have been dissolved by the Digital World. Blockbuster's big corporate money did not see the changes coming. Blockbuster never looked in the review mirror or outside of the box. Instead they made strong corporate alliances and paidtop dollar to executives. Take, for example, John f. anti aging viruses that affected Blockbusters Business model in the late 80 's, 90 's, and 00 's: as they grew up, they sold out. As the new Blockbuster Company develops, it will enrich the fabric of Americana and leap into the new era of appreciation.

One final suggestion: "I could be in charge of the first store with signing bonuses. I'm looking for a job right now.
